Replacement of the cutting system in production
The old machine had been in operation for 15 years, but has now been replaced with a new, more modern cutting system.
The effectiveness of the cutting system at Kremsmüller no longer met the increased performance requirements, and the availability of spare parts was also limited. “In order to optimize and improve the processes, the decision was made in favour of the OmniMat® L7500 from MESSER Cutting Systems,” explains Kremsmüller’s production manager at the company headquarters in Steinhaus.
The 25-metre-long CNC machine with a track width of 7,500 millimetres primarily cuts carbon steel and stainless steel at Kremsmüller. It meets special requirements such as floor cutting and has an automated tube turning axis. The positioning speed is 30 meters per minute, whereas the old system only reached 20 meters per minute in comparison. The laser measurement of the Z-axes before floor cutting enables a reliable target/actual comparison. A laser limiter ensures the safety of the operating staff.
Many advantages
In the long term, the new cutting system offers numerous advantages. It enables automated pipe and floor cutting. In addition, larger thicknesses can be cut and the cutting quality is further increased. “With the new system, we can increase our efficiency and productivity even further,” continues the production manager. The performance and cutting parameters are improved, there are more cutting options overall than before and a belt conveyor ensures greater efficiency and relieves the strain on employees.
The new cutting system at Kremsmueller is one of the most modern within a radius of 300 kilometers and one of the largest of its kind in Austria.
