Precision Fittings for the Petrochemical Industry
Technology at the highest level: Kremsmueller successfully participates in a development partnership.
For five years now, Kremsmueller has operated a mechanical workshop for precision fabrication in the Styrian town of Krieglach (A). The automotive industry is one of its customers. Components for prototypes are produced with impressive accuracy. This expertise was used to its advantage for a development partnership.
The objective was to solve an everyday problem at a refinery. Floating roofs of large storage tanks must be drained on a continuing basis. A complex procedure requiring a safe, automatic solution. In collaboration with the experts from Kremsmueller, an engineering firm developed special valves that can be controlled by compressed air. About 100 components make up the fittings that have to meet the highest standards.
Thirteen prototypes were produced in 1200 working hours. Initial experiences with the valves are promising. The customer is already anticipating extensive use of this innovation in the petrochemical industry.
