The steam accumulator is used to optimize the energy consumption of pulp production at Mondi Neusiedler. The steam accumulator is fed with medium-pressure steam at up to 200°C from the tapping of the steam turbine, as well as with deionized water from the boiler house.
Kremsmüller is also responsible for the process engineering design of the steam storage tank for this order. The pressure vessel, which is subject to inspection, was prefabricated and coated as a whole in Steinhaus from Dec. 23 to the end of March 2024.

Delivery was carried out with a boiler bridge vehicle by Felbermayr. At the Mondi Neusiedler plant, the apparatus was transferred from the tank bridge vehicle to a self-propelled SPMT trailer due to the limited space available in the timber yard. This allowed the machine to be driven to the foundations and lifted into place.

In this project for Mondi Neusiedler, the steam pipes from the steam storage tank to the plant and the piping for the pulp dryer were also planned, supplied and installed. The piping work was carried out from the tie-in points in the production hall to the pulp dryers on the roof. A total of 350 linear meters of DN300 piping (corresponding to a diameter of 323.9 mm) were laid. The resulting temperatures in the interior and the installation of the existing structures were the major challenges for the pipeline construction.

Kremsmueller acted as a full-service provider for Mondi Neusiedler in this project and delivered the steam accumulator, including all integration into the existing system, within a period of five months.

Kremsmueller is justifiably proud of the positive feedback from the customer Mondi Neusiedler. Mondi project manager Franz Brachner said: “We are very satisfied with the planning and implementation by Kremsmueller for both the steam storage tank and the pipeline construction. The production and installation of the steam storage tank was carried out competently and on schedule, and the adjustments and additional services that naturally occur during pipeline construction in the old plant were carried out flexibly and also on schedule.”
