This major project is in fact designed to promote national security. In the event of a “blackout”, authorities and blue-light organisations can access this emergency-service radio system. The project has been in progress since the beginning of 2016 and should be completed by the end of 2018.

Great confidence is also placed in Kremsmüller’s experts when it comes to maintenance and service. The maintenance contract, which is intended to guarantee the reliable operational readiness of the system, runs until the end of 2020.

Approximately half of the new radio sites are completely new buildings in rough mountainous regions and sometimes entail difficult conditions. Helicopters were required for around 45 of all the installations. In some cases even the excavators had to be brought to the site by helicopter in order to erect the stations.
