With the delivery of two massive steam storage tanks, Kremsm\u00fcller recently contributed to what is currently likely Austria\u2019s largest climate protection program: voestalpine in Linz is pursuing a clear path toward decarbonizing its steel production. According to this plan, the transition from coal to electricity in steel production at the Linz and Donawitz sites is expected to reduce Austria\u2019s annual CO\u2082 emissions by up to five percent. Kremsm\u00fcller\u2019s steam storage tanks help store energy efficiently and make it available as needed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Custom Work in Steinhaus<\/strong><\/p>\n

The two steam storage tanks, each weighing about 100 metric tons and with a wall thickness of 42 mm, were manufactured entirely at Kremsm\u00fcller\u2019s headquarters in Steinhaus. They were delivered to Primetals; the end customer is voestalpine.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

One interesting detail worth mentioning here is the heat treatment of the two storage tanks: Through a process known as stress-relief annealing, internal stresses in the welds and in the base material were relieved, thereby improving the material properties.
The logistical challenge posed by this project was considerable: Transporting the storage tanks\u2014with a total length of 57 meters for the convoy\u2014to the voestalpine Linz plant site required precise planning and a great deal of experience.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
