A customer from the chemical industrial plant construction sector has commissioned Kremsmueller with the entire engineering and production of two reactors for the manufacture of aluminum fluoride (AlF3).<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The project involved the construction of two identical AlF3 reactors with a diameter of 2,450 mm and a length of 14,000 mm. The resulting salt (AlF3) is obtained from the reaction of gaseous hydrofluoric acid and aluminum hydroxide, which places high mechanical demands on the material. The apparatuses were manufactured from nickel-based alloys, which have the necessary high temperature and corrosion resistance to the media used. The design was optimized accordingly so that the reactors can withstand the exceptional operating conditions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Technical details<\/strong>
The finite element method (FEM) was used to optimize the reactor beds, nozzles and welded constructions in order to ensure the economical use of the very expensive material despite the high operating temperature of 650\u00b0C. This complex calculation ensures the static and dynamic stability of the reactors under the extreme conditions of AlF3 production.
An ASME inspector checked all standards and technical regulations from engineering to production. During the final Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) before delivery, the reactors were tested under controlled conditions to ensure that they met the contractually agreed requirements.<\/p>\n
